Review: Tribute

Tribute Tribute by Nora Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow. Just wow. I am in awe with this story. Heading into this one I wasn’t 100% sure I was going to enjoy it, but some where along the lines I did. I feel in love with the characters, the setting, Nora can write emotions so well. I wasn’t expecting to feel all the feels at some stages. I loved the unfolding mystery of her late grandmother. I loved the whole flipping the house but the romance, Ford! He was so darn adorable and he won me over with he dialogue. I am seriously becoming a hardcore fan of Nora Roberts. This book Is a 5/5 stars.

AWK-WEIRD by Avery Flynn

AWK-WEIRD
Ice Knights #2
By Avery Flynn
Release Day: October 14 (TODAY)

There’s more to me than just being awk-weird. I own my own flower shop, have some great friends, and I have my eye on adopting the most adorable kitten. But sadly, hot guys don’t tend to be blown away by my trivia-spouting, dorky self.

So, when a Thor-lookalike who happens to be a professional hockey player hits on me at my bestie's wedding rehearsal party ... You better believe I climbed that tree like a cat. And the face that it happened not once, not twice, but three times? Yeah, that's pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a woman like me.

There's zero chance I'll end up ever seeing him again...right?

Until the pregnancy test comes up positive. What happens next?

Oh my God, I wish I knew...

MY REVIEW
This was weird, like I had so many high expectations to love this, but I unfortunately didn't. I thought it was adorably awkward and slightly cute. I found the main couple immature and annoying most of the times, I can see the appeal to others though, I can see why its potential for other readers to enjoy and love, it is though a continuation of her other series. Well I thought it was, as the main chick is bff with the girls from Butterface, Muffintop and Tomboy. This is not my first Avery book, and it probably wont be my last, they are fun easy, some what angst/drama (ish) rom/coms. Tess and Coles story is very boy meets girl at said wedding they bang, she gets knocked up and then they fall in love, with a hell of a lot of miscommunication, they breakup well not really they are really ever together just boning. "Temporarily" I liked it overall 3 stars.

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

Probably one of the most anticipated reads for a lot of fans, and this also has some major hype surrounding the book, So that alone going into this one had my expectations pretty damn high. But in saying that, I only gave TKQ 4 stars.
-
The Bride Test was deferentially interesting, very unique and I see why so many loved this book, unfortunately for me I did not. Not because the writing was poor, I honestly did not care for the characters much, and the setting or not like the idea of  it maybe I am still unsure how to put my words in order but I did not hate the book, I just didn't gel with it.
 For me was OK.

This was a own voices novel, the main character or the dude main character is Autistic and this author does do a great job showing how he expresses his feelings and such.

Khai, is Michael's cousin from the first book. Esme is from Vietnam and cleans for a living, while living with her baby daughter and mother and grandmother. Khai's mother, travels there to try and find him a wife... obviously she stumbles upon Esme and there is a propersition and the story goes from there.

I found myself enjoying most of all the Khai moments, and him learning about sex,and how to pleasure a lady, I loved his brother and I hope he gets a book.

The whole time I was literally questioning Emse  and her feelings and that she dose not tell ANYONE about her daughter is messed up. I am a mum, so this struck a cord with me. don't be ashamed or whatever, I didn't like that at all and when she did tell, it wasn't even till really at the end of the book and she had no choice really to let anyone know. I dunno I didn't like that at all, and then like if you were away from your baby, you would be thinking and wanting and talking to her girl all the time or more then what was shown in this story. Because of this and another part where she was considering to hook up with the brother, didn't go so well with me. Then towards the end, like always with books like this the 70-80% of push and pull will I or wont I bullshit, the I don't love her, or I cant and I don't understand love. YOU PUT YOUR DICK IN HER.... Like a lot and you don't know how you feel.. but you can feel and like really enjoy sex .... anyways lets move on!

I thought it was impressive with the character coming to a new country and learning how to stand on her own, learning a new language and wanting a better life for herself and family. I can relate to that in some capacity, as I was young girl to move to a new country and start all over again, knowing my own parents wanted a better life for themselves and my brother and I.

I did really enjoy the audio, if it was not for that I think I could have possibly given up my paperback. I gave this a 3 stars overall.

Review: Until December

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5

I’m a huge fan of the ‘Until Series’ by Aurora Rose Reynolds, and this book DID NOT disappoint!
This one is about December and Gareth. A little drama at the beginning, but not much. I loved that this was all connecting and family bonds, I think this was such a perfect love story.

The writing as always in great, I love the feeling I get wen i read an ARR book. The sense of being a part of the story, I think all fan will enjoy this one.

I am curious to know who is next, will it be a Until Him story or will it be Until Her, maybe Aprils?

Gareth is mega HOT, working Dad, and I was here for it all, hes the ultimate book boyfriend.
December is sweet, innocent and I just loved her way with Gareth and his boys.

I loved this book.

Tried & True by Charlie Cochet

Tried & True by Charlie Cochet

Tried & True

BLURB
When THIRDS agent Dexter J. Daley met Team Leader Sloane Brodie, he couldn’t have imagined how slamming into his new partner—literally—would shake both their worlds. Now four years later, they’ve faced dangers, fought battles both personal and professional… and fallen deeply in love. Now their big moment is finally in sight, and they’re ready to stand up together and make it official. Unfortunately, as the countdown to their big day begins, an enemy declares war on the THIRDS….

With their family in danger, Dex and Sloane are put to the test on how far into darkness they’ll walk to save those they love. As secrets are unearthed, a deadly betrayal is revealed, and Dex and Sloane must call on their Destructive Delta family for one last hurrah to put an end to the secret organization responsible for so much devastation.

Dex and Sloane will have plenty of bullets to dodge on the way to the altar, but with happiness within their grasp, they are determined to get there come hell or high water.

My Thoughts.
This is it, the very last book of the THIRDS series, and what a awesome ride it was. This book was really good, it brought it all to a fantastic closure. I was sad when it came to a end, each character and couple had a happy ending and I look forward to seeing them or hearing about them in the spin off series, TIN. I have read the new one it that and ill have some thoughts on that one too. I do not want to give away to many spoilers but the ad guys are here, and they kidnap someone and that some one is important to the team. There is a race against the time, lots of faces popping up and lots of butt kicking. Destructive Delta pull one more mission, giving us all the teams and characters and I was here for it all. I really liked how it finished up, it was a bitter sweet feel.

Darkest Hour Before Dawn (THIRDS, #9)

BLURB

THIRDS Team Leader Sebastian Hobbs and Chief Medical Examiner Hudson Colbourn are as much in love now as they were nearly seven years ago when a tragic event on the job destroyed their relationship. The two drift together only to be pulled apart time and time again. When Hudson draws the interest of dangerous enemies, both within and outside the organization, Seb wants nothing more than to protect the man who still means everything to him.

As life and death events, an uncertain future, and startling truths draw Hudson and Seb to each other yet again, they must make a choice: trust their love and take strength from what they share, or lose what matters most for good this time.

My Thoughts.
Now, this was a treat. I gave this story 4 stars. I enjoyed that we got more of Sebastian Hobbs. I love that family. I was not sure about Hudson, it took a long time for me to like him and then by the time I did, the book was almost over. I think it was another good edition to the series, and it was good to see the men get a happy ending. I liked the newer characters we have been introduced to. And it was always good to see the other couples too. The overall arc is fantastic, with question asked, and only some answered.

Thick & Thin by Charlie Cochet

Hi Friends,  I have finished the THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet

Thick & Thin
BLURB
Book 8 Thick & Thin
In a matter of days, Dex has been kidnapped, tortured, killed, revived, become half Therian, offered the chance to become a spy, and accepted a proposal to marry his jaguar Therian boyfriend, Sloane Brodie. It’s been a lot to take in, and although Dex is still trying to wrap his head around everything that’s happened, he knows he has to move forward.

After the events of Smoke & Mirrors, Dex and Sloane find themselves in one of the most frightening situations of all: revealing the truth to their Destructive Delta family. When the dust settles, nothing will ever be the same, and it’s up to Dex to prove that in the face of change, the one thing that will always remain the same is family.

My Thoughts.
This was overall a 3.5 Star, I felt like this story in the series was a short filler, I had a lot of questions, and none were answered. The team in strong and a lot of changes are or were to come, and I was not ready for them. Still did not like Sparks, shes a lady douche.

Smoke & Mirrors (THIRDS Book 7) by [Cochet, Charlie]

MY THOUGHTS
Wow, what a book!
I think I should take a moment before I move onto the next one, but this was intense. I did not see the twist and turns and the roller coaster ride of emotions I just went on. Like at one point I wanted to quit. A one point i hated Sloan with all my my heart, and I wanted to throat punch him myself. I then through out the whole story HATED SPARKS so much, I mean do I even like her now? I am not sure. But damn you guys this book was nuts. I can not believe who was the "bad guy" cos lets face it everyone now is kinda bad apart from our man group of thirds. Poor Tony, I LOVE him so much, he deserves so much love. He is the coolest Dad. SPOILERS COMING... Now Dex is a half breed because Sloan marked him, god damn i did not see that coming, well I kinda ha a niggling feeling that might happen, but then it happened. This book involves so much action, love and suspense. I was hooked, I could not stop listening to it. I am so excited to read the next one. This whole series has AMAZING world building that I am living for, this is what PNR is all about.

Book IN DEATH SERIES by JD Robb

Hello, Hi & Welcome.

Get cosy, Welcome again to my little slice of the bookish community.

In Death series Update.

Vengeance in Death (In Death, Book 6) by [Robb, J. D.]
  BLURB

In this In Death novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author J. D. Robb, Lieutenant Eve Dallas learns that when technology links the law and the lawless, predators and prey can become one and the same…

He is an expert with the latest technology...a madman with the mind of a genius and the heart of a killer. He quietly stalks his prey. Then he haunts the police with cryptic riddles about the crimes he is about to commit—always solved moments too late to save his victims' lives. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas found the first victim butchered in his own home. The second lost his life in a vacant luxury apartment. The two men had little in common. Both suffered unspeakable torture before their deaths. And both had ties to an ugly secret of ten years past—a secret shared by none other than Eve's new husband, Roarke.

MY Thoughts
I have become obsessed with this series. I think mainly it is Eve & Roarke, they have such incredible chemistry and with each book they grow closer and closer. I adore them, massive couple goals. This story in the series, really puts on the pressure of there relationship and at some pints you really think that they might not pull through this one, because in this one Summerset is being set p as a killer, and all of his and Roarkes past comes back to haunt them. One time in in the distant past Summerset had a beautiful young daughter who who madly in love with Rorake, she was brutalised by 6 men who, rapped, tortured and killed her. The police back then did not give a hoot, and no one was punished... or were they? This book was a heck of a ride, twist and turns to boot, and I was living for it all. That and the sexy time between our fav couple. I loved the pace of this story and the writing, I love that it is literally a police show set in the future.

Holiday in Death (In Death, Book 7) by [Robb, J. D.]
BLURB
Lieutenant Eve Dallas tails a serial killer who has a passion for the "Twelve Days of Christmas" in this novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series.

No one likes to be alone during the holidays. For New York's most posh dating service, Personally Yours, it is the season to bring lonely hearts together. But Lieutenant Eve Dallas, on the trail of a ritualistic serial killer who likes to dress up as Santa Claus, has made a disturbing discovery: all of the victims have been traced to Personally Yours. As the murders continue, Eve enters into an elite world of people searching for their one true love. A world where the power of love leads men and women into the ultimate act of betrayal...

MY THOUGHTS
This story is creepy, but I loved it's balanced by how innocent Eve is, or is it naive about her and friendships, love and everything that surrounds Christmas time. Under all that tough skin she portrays, there is this lovely sweet Eve that we adore, we see her open up more with Peabody, and her and Roarkes relationship is stronger then ever, also he works with her again through out this story with our new fav geek guy McNabb. When I finished I ordered the companion novel Midnight in Death because apparently it occurs during the same time as this and is the aftermath after this book. The twist and turn this one had was mind boggling, I cried because some of the subject matters is so sad. I just loved the growing friendships that she and Mira  have, I over all just adore this series.

Catch A Tiger By The Tail by Charie Cochet

Hello, Hi & Welcome.

Get cosy, Welcome again to my little slice of the bookish community.

BLURB

Sequel to Against the Grain
THIRDS: Book Six

Calvin Summers and Ethan Hobbs have been best friends since childhood, but somewhere along the line, their friendship evolved into something more. With the Therian Youth Center bombing, Calvin realizes just how short life can be and no longer keeps his feelings for his best friend a secret. Unfortunately, change is difficult for Ethan; most days he does well to deal with his selective mutism and social anxiety. Calvin’s confession adds a new struggle for Ethan, one he fears might cost him the friendship that’s been his whole world for as long as he can remember.

As partners and Defense Agents at the THIRDS, being on Destructive Delta is tough at the best of times, but between call-outs and life-threatening situations, Calvin and Ethan not only face traversing the challenges of their job, but also working toward a future as more than friends.

Catch a Tiger by the Tail (THIRDS Book 6)

Yes, friends YES!
this book was everything I wanted, need, and loved. Ethan and Calvin, Calvin and Ethan have been best friends since they were kids, and now they want more. The series has been leading up to them having there own story, and I have to say they are quite a couple and could possibly be near close to be a new fav couple, though Ash and Cael ere so good too. This time the focus was not on Dex and Sloan, but they were still here in the back ground I loved this story so much, we got to know these characters better, and understand them more, there is no doubt that they love each other and are meant to be end game. We understand more about Hobbs and is disability and how Calvin helps him, we learn more about his brothers too and families. It was paced very well, the writing phenomenal and the sexy times were HOT! Charlie has some mad talent, I love her writing and this series is easily become my a favourite. I am shook with the cliff hanger at the end of this book, I did not know that they story arc was heading back into Dex and Sloan's story line.  Filled with a sweet romance, action and a lot of un answered questions simmering leading us wanting to know what is going to happen next. The team of course brings the humour and friendly banter, they all have a amazing team, like family with  otherwise a serious story. The Thirds are in a hell of a ride I think, and I am here for it all.

Saint by Chantal Fernando

Oh Boy,Hey Friends.

It has been a hot minute since I have read a MC series, It only seems fitting that the first one I read in YEARS is Chantal's.

Saint is the start to Chantal Fernando's brand new series, Knights of Fury MC. Saint and Skylar had a great relationship. I enjoyed reading about them reconnecting, I liked that the conflict in the story did not take over the whole plot, and left plenty of the couple  to be on the pages. I enjoyed the mix of sweet, passion moments and the heart pounding ones with the MC as well.

I was quite upset when something sad happens, I was not expecting that. I really was like WHAT! because damn.

Saint is Older and very experienced then Skylar and I was living for it. Because we all no I love me some sexy times, and this proved to me why i do like me some Chantal writing.

The plot, characters and overall everything was great, I was pleasantly surprised that for the first time in for a long time by this MC novel. I have not read one in a hot minute, as i said. Though i would not go looking for any more to read, because the ship sailed a long time ago, but it is nice to read one now and again.

Will pick the next one up, and i really do look forward to it. Highly recommend.

A quick, enjoyable read. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley

Reign Of Mist by D.G. Swank

Hello, Hi & Welcome.

Get cosy, Welcome again to my little slice of the bookish community.

BLURB
Book two of the Book of Sindal series. (Rowan)

Rowan might be the firstborn of the Whelan sisters, but her magic is far from first class. Outshone by her younger sisters’ rare and powerful gifts hasn’t been easy, but she has always taken her position as leader of their family seriously. Even more seriously when her sisters are endangered and they lose—yet again—the Book of Sindal, a magical tome of evil spells and incantations their small coven of three has been tasked to protect.

When the Dark Set, a group of mages determined to take over the magical community comes for Rowan, she turns to an unexpected and very human source. Local cop Logan Gillespie might not be a mage, but he’s not to be underestimated.

The question is why Rowan? As the weakest witch, she shouldn’t be of interest to the Dark Set. Yet they’re sure she’s the secret to unlocking the power of the book.

Can she convince them they’re wrong? She has to find a way because the lives of her sisters, Logan, and possibly the world depend on it.

MY THOUGHTS.

This was really good, I couldn't believe the twist and turns this one provided us with. I am still in shock, and can not wait to rad the third and finally book when it comes out. We learn so much more about the older sister Rowan, and she is POWERFUL! Logan is fine, extra fine ;)  Reign of Mist has everything I enjoy in a story, suspense romance, mystery and action and I devoured this book in 1 sitting.
