My Top Reads of 2018
Because I read so many books this year, I went through them all and out of the 278 I had a lot of 5 star reads. I didn't know if I should list them all, so I'm legit just going to wing it and see what happens. I cant just narrow down 10. So I thought I would try and do 3 top reads for each of the months, (TRY) I can not promise It'll work out. So lets get to it. I do want to mention that I cant remember for sure what month I read these all in, I roughly remember. It was not until March-April I got my self a Planner. Yikes that is a lot, but you know what it is what it is, I read a lot and as I mentioned above it's really hard to just pick out a few. Though I have noticed something this last week having to do the Top 10 prompts that 10-15(ish) books or series keep getting re mentioned over and over.
Radiance by Grace Draven
Kingmaker Chronicles by Amanda Bouchet
Sky In The Deep by Adrienne Young
All That I Am by Rachel Brookes
Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren
Ocean Light by Nalini Singh
ACOTAR series by Sarah J Mass ( If you think this is YA, you are mistaken and very far from right, it is Adult romance or New Adult. There are explicit sex and so far from YA. I thought it was too but a dear friend set me right, and now its one of my fav series.)
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff, even Godsgrave this series is one for everyone to try!
Honey Badger by Shelly Laurenston (I adore everything she writes)
Illuminae Files series ( to get the best experience I would Highly recommend the AUDIO which is a full cast, and read along with your book, its epic! Seriously do it!!!)
Flirting With Forever by Kendall Ryan
and Rhys Ford's new 415 Ink series blew my socks off.
Not so Nice Guy by R.S.Grey
Sin & Ink by Naima Simone
Dark Witch by Nora Roberts, changed the game plan this year I found myself reading a lot more buy her.
If I were to categorize them all it would be 5 PNR/Fantasy books, 2 YA (mature) one being about Vikings and 1 being Sci-Fi books, 7 Contemporary Romance books, one of them being an Assassin book,2 being Rom Coms and 2 MM Romance books.
Looking back I am pretty proud of my reading this year 75-80% I read in paperbacks and the rest in ebook form. At the beginning of the year I set out a TBR Goals list, and to be honest I knew I would not have stuck to it. But lets take a look at it, and see what I actually completed.
First, I had down read the Mortal Instruments series, and that was a no, no, as got ridof them all, well they went to my son and I still cant get passed the similarities with them and my fav series Dark Hunters by Sherrilyn.
Second Read at least 1 Angsty book, this I actually did! I would say Sin & Ink was pretty full on and so was Savior by Rhys Ford
Third, Read at least 5 books from your TBR shelve (paperbacks) ahh, this was meet even though I can not remember what was on my tbr shelve as I put all my shelves into alphabetical order by last name. I defiantly read more than 5 shelved paperbacks.
Fourth, Read at least 5 books from your TBR good reads shelve, I done this too.
Fifth, Catch up on Alexandra Ivy Vamp series, This was such a let down I didn't get to them at all this year.
Sixth, Finish Reading Gena Showalter Atlanta series, and read the YA series that also on my book shelve. Nope, well that's not true. I did read all the Atlanta series, but I never looked at the YA series. I might have given them to my son to read.
Seventh, Read the Talon series, NOPE I didn't do this.
Eighth, Read Vlads book by Jeanine Frost, I actually picked the first one up to read but i didn't finish it nor remember to go back to it.
Ninth, Re Read Shelly Lauernston Pride Series, Yass, Yass I did this and I also re read the other ones too.
Ten, Pull at least 5 picks from your TBR Jar, I did pull from it a few times.
Eleven, Read Caraval. I started the audio and DNF it.
Twelve, Re Read Fallen, Nope. didn't happen.
Thirteen, Read Nineteen Letters, Didn't happen!
Fourteen, Read Sleeping Beauties, and Fifteen was to read Buying Thyme and I did NOT do any of these. I think I thought about it, but never followed through.
So what I learned about setting Reading Goals, is that I can not stick to them, I am too much of a mood reader. Though I can do smaller challenges with the mood I'm in to read. It is weird.I participated in all the Harry potter challenges, the NEWTS and OWLS and a few 24 hour Readathons. For my 2019 Reading Goals I am going to keep them simple a smaller then what I did this year. That will be a new Post. This one is far too long, if you made it this far you are a champion.
My 2019 so far is filled with a few fun challenges already and I cant wait for them.
Look out for the Year long challenge Romance-opoly, its a fun challenge for all us book nerds, I am doing it, Its legit going to be one of the most fun reading years.
Hopefully your reading year was successful too, if you wanted to see what read this year all the ratings and reviews, they are all on my good reads. I am pretty sure you can click on my goodreads challenge for 2018 and it will bring up everything.
