Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson Book 2) by Darynda Jones

Hello, Hi & Welcome.

Get cosy, Welcome again to my little slice of the bookish community.

Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson Book 2) by Darynda Jones

Blurb:
Second in the Darynda Jones' award-winning paranormal series that's "hilarious and heartfelt, sexy and surprising." (J.R. Ward)
When Charley Davidson and Cookie (her best friend/receptionist) have to track down a missing woman, the case is not quite as open and shut as they anticipate. A friend of Cookie's named Mimi disappeared five days earlier. This friend then sends Cookie a cryptic message telling them to meet her at a nearby coffee shop. The coffee is brewing, but Mimi's still missing. There is, however, a clue left on the bathroom wall: a woman's name, scribbled by Mimi. Mimi's husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message.
Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He's left his body because he's being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can't let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they'll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let's just say it wouldn't be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Can she keep those she loves out of harm's way? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel her as she does?
Here is your signpost for the most hilarious read of the summer: Second Grave On The Left.

My Thoughts.

Friends,  I love the humour in this series, especially in this book. I have to be honest, it has been a little while since I read the first book. But once I got into it, it was all coming back to me. This book was all about Cookie, her best friend and secretary missing friend, the mystery of the dead dude in Cookies trunk and then also finding Reyes, well finding is human body before it gets eaten by crazy demons.

Even with the romance missing, I found myself laughing and loving Charley even more so, she reminds me of Veronica mars. And I live for Veronica Mars.

The twist and turns within this book was nuts, i wasn't once board, i just really wanted more Reyes.

Charley Davidson, is the Grim Reaper and also she is a Private Investigator. She is literally the portal for all the dead to pass through into heaven. And then our main man Reyes, he is the son of Satan, he is the portal to Hell. Charley can see and speak to al the dead, she helps her Uncle who is a cop, and in the past has helped her father who was also a police man. The main focus in each book, i am guessing will be the murder mysteries, and the cases she takes on. I adore her best friend Cookie,  and the side plot will be the blooming blossoming sometimes relationship with Reyes, and the war with the demons wanting to get through them as they are portals to each important worlds.

I really look forward to the net instalment. I think for sure, that you can only read this series in order, like with any other series. I am not one for hoping from random books to the next, they must be read in order it only makes sense.

4 solid stars, and highly recommend.
