Review: Co-Wrecker

Co-Wrecker Co-Wrecker by Meghan Quinn
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Co- Wrecker by Meghan Quinn
A romantic comedy, it was a good read. I wouldn’t say it was my favourite from Meghan but it was defiantly a good read.

Sadie was downright a stubborn bitch, I was blown away with how much I didn’t really like her to begin with and how much it took for me to like her. Andrew is BRILLIANT funny, sweet, sexy and oh so dirty!

Highly recommended Co Wreckers it is adorable, sexy and funny. Meghan does an amazing job to balance all the feels, it has drama and angst with all the swoony worthy moments.

Overall I did enjoy the story, Meaghan is a fantastic story teller, I hope we get more and more romantic comedies form her, I think she has found her thing.

Review: One More Night

One More Night One More Night by Sarah O'Rourke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

One More Night by Sarah O’Rouke
I ADORE insta-love stories, the ones that are perfect and light and easy to read with NO drama and angst.

One More Night is fabulous, I sat there with a huge smile on my face while reading and I couldn’t stop. It was the perfect afternoon treat, Crenshaw and Waverlee have that intense hot chemistry that I loved. This duo of authors know exactly how to write, it flowed wonderfully and it didn’t drag in any parts.

Highly recommend.

Review: All You Need

All You Need All You Need by Lorelei James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Til next time

All You Need by Lorelei James is book 3 in the Need You series but can be read as a standalone contemporary sports romance.

This is the first story of Loreleis that I have read and I loved every minute of it. So much so, that it was hard for me to put this book down and didn't want it to end.

I loved that Annika and Axl were enemies to lovers. Their interaction was fantastic from their initial meeting and right the way through. They were so good together and each of the supporting characters were awesome as well

I'm a huge fan of interlocking series, that can be read as standalones, that have great characters sharing the same world and each have their own HEA and All You Need ticked all those boxes. It was clever, witty, very funny, sweet, sexy and sassy. I especially loved all the hockey and sport puns.

I'd happily recommend this book to avid sports romance readers and I am looking forward to reading much more in this amazing series

Review: Etched in Bone

Etched in Bone Etched in Bone by Anne Bishop
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Etched in Bones – Anne Bishop – 5 stars

Guest Review.

Etched in Bones is supposed to be the last book in the Others series.  After reading it however, I can see how the author could carry on for an infinite about of time.  I did feel this story felt more settled than the others, a certain peace to it.  The characters felt more understanding of themselves as well as each other, a certain strength in knowing.
In Etched in Bones, we finally meet The Elders. In previous books, they are entities that exist like Gods and in Marked in Flesh, they passed judgement on humans and millions die.  The story circles around the Elders, as they must decide if humans should be kept on earth and if so, is there a certain type of human that should be kept?’.  The Elders embark on research and for lack of a better term ‘meddle’ in the lives of those around Lakeside Courtyard, so that they can determine human’s worth.  We are then taken on a journey of those who are good, bad, and those in between.  It was fascinating to watch how a God like entities can also learn new things about life and coexisting.
Oh and that sweet slow love that blooms between Meg and Simon?  Their story and words could not be any more perfect for who they are and what they are becoming.  I think some readers may be disappointed as it is not the hearts and flowers epic scene of words and physical love, but really, if you know they two of them, it was perfect.
The above short synopsis does not even scratch the surface of the complexity of this book, let alone the series.  There are so many layers and intertwined concepts, philosophies, and characters.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and while I would not be sad for more, I can walk away from this series with a full heart.

Review: Making Changes by Lila Rose

Making Changes

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Making Changes by Lila Rose

Book Lovers, I think I have found that book! You know that book, that book you must have in all forms. If you all remember I found that book last year, it was called When Nothing is all you’ve got by Kirsty Dallas.

When I first seen the cover to Making Changes, I was already in love with it, can that even happen? Meh! I just knew from the get go I was going to love this story, I mean COME ON! Have you seen this cover, a beautiful curvy woman on the cover? What’s not to love!

Makenzie Mayfair has been treated like a doormat, for long enough! She is taking back her life, and going to leave her husband… once she gets the nerve to stand up and do it!
Her douche of a husband is the biggest piece of scum of a man I have ever read about, I truly wanted to throat punch him. When they first meet 6 years ago he seemed to be caring, and sweet and everything Kenzie thought she wanted or needed, not realizing this piece of sh*it was moulding her into someone she never wanted to be. Robert would put her down in the meanest of ways.
At dinner with her soon to be ex, she as this moment she knew she wanted to be someone else, be herself she needed out. She needed to find herself again. In one moment she stood her ground, got up and leaves to start her new life.

Watching Kenzie grow into her own person again was beautiful, her transition from always having so much self-doubt to this strong independent woman who took no shit was outstanding!

“There, take that, you prick on a good-looking stick.”

At 10% I knew I was going to read the whole story in one sitting and I did, at 15% I couldn’t stop laughing, legit this was the funniest story but whilst funny it was empowering. It had all the feels. When I reached 35% I was gone, I had the leaky eyes from laughing so much, I had a sore jaw from the smiling and again the laughter. I have come to adore romantic comedies; I could even say that they are my #1 favourite to one click.

Kenzie meets Dylan, who is amazing! He was at the right place at the right time, he helped her get a new job with *cue* Mr Grumpy Alpha Grayson Jackson, that’s Dylan’s older hot brother who is just exciting to read about.

Kenzie becomes his personal assistant; he can never keep one long enough to deal with his grumpiness his demanding ways.

I think it was fate for these two/three people to meet, I just LOVED this story!
Even though Making Changes is in one POV, Kenzie’s. I felt that we don’t need to be in the guy’s head, when in fact this is about Kenzie finding herself again, we are here watching her become the women she was always meant to be.

Did I tell you how much I loved Grayson, he is going to be one of my new fav book boyfriends, I think that list is forever growing. I loved everything about this story, best night in I have had all week. I love laughing so hard, your close to peeing yourself, or laughing so hard you wake the kids up… thinking I could contain my laughter and taking it to another room was most likely the worst thing I did, it just echoed! So worth the book hangover, the late night and all the coffee.

“Why aren’t you looking at me?” he murmured against my temple. “I’m all snotty and gross.” I liked that I could feel his chuckle as well as hearing it. “I’ve seen you on cough medicine. Nothing else could faze me.” Lifting my head, I laughed. “True.” “Ah, no, baby. Hide your head, you’re hideous.”

Her Dad, Trent is a hoot, fierce and loves his daughters unconditionally.

“Jellybean, I need some men. I’m horny. Can you go to the shop and get me some men. Bring home any kind….”

You got to love when parents do the texting these days, and with autocorrect failing us all this was the funniest thing ever!

Dylan; he was her knight in charming Armour, even though this isn’t the brother for her, there friendship is fun and easy and exactly what she needed. They were meant to meet each other and for him to get her a job with Grayson.

“You would be helping him keep his women, who work the streets, safe and you’ll also be making their appointments with their clients for them. You just have to approach the cars first.”

Her sister Lori. Shy and timid but I loved their sisterly bond.

“Some things are meant to happen for a reason. Maybe, just maybe, you were meant to waste six years with him to finally find yourself”

Grayson; Hot alpha, sexy, strong, and loves Kenzie’s quirkiness. I loved their banter, I loved watching them fall head over heels for each other.

I loved them all, I couldn’t stop reading. I have said that already I know, but seriously it’s so good! I loved the way the story flowed and the way Lila wrote was fabulous. Her writing was so well done that I could easily visualise them all.

“Wait one cotton pickin’ minute. I’m annoyed with you, you big bossy…boss.”

Whilst writing this review, just laughing along with what I’m trying to explain is so hard, I hope everyone will go grab themselves a copy and just stop and read it. I think it’s one of the best rom/coms I have read. I mean who gets high on cough medicine? Lol Kenzie is a hoot when she is being herself and I would recommend this to everyone and would totally re read this again and again!

“Only you can make me laugh, even when I’m turned the fuck on. Only you can roll your eyes at me when I’m yelling in your face, and I find it cute instead of firing you…”

Here; I already have the link for you to one click, you are one step from laughing yourself silly!

Review: Rainbow Sprinkles

Rainbow Sprinkles Rainbow Sprinkles by Anna Martin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rainbow Sprinkles (States of Love)
by Anna Martin

I love Anna, this is another Cute story with some sexy love scenes. Drew and Cooper are cute enough.
I liked this story. It had the perfect blend of everything I like in a short sweet story.
It was a good all round story, set amongst the states of love series.
I found this one to be a little short on plot, but more on the sexual attraction between the couple.
It’s based in California, and it had so many Disney references I was super excited to read about, I’ve been to that Disneyland it was one of the best experiences of my life, to read about where they were driving and where they lived I was like ‘OMG I have been there”
I enjoyed this because it was short, and coming from another great book of a book high this was good enough to past time until I had to read another deep long story.

Review: Lifeblood

Lifeblood Lifeblood by Gena Showalter
My rating: 0 of 5 stars

Lifeblood – Gena Showalter

At the last second before Ten’s Firstlife ended she made her choice between Myriad and Troika – which brings us to the second instalment in the series, Lifeblood.

I’m quite the Gena Fan, I love her prose, I love her depth and detail but most of all her imagination. Lifeblood was no exception! This novel takes off in the Ten’s secondlife right where the first novel left off. I really loved experiencing Ten’s passing into the new realm in which she signed with but man was it not what I’d expected… Better? Worse? A bit of both I guess. I hated that Killian and Ten were torn apart, and I was also quite surprised at some of the goings on in Ten’s new home Troika. Again, unsuspecting little old me!

As far as world building goes, Gena nailed it. And as for keeping me on my toes… I can’t even. There is so much happening, so much at stake and my nails are thoroughly destroyed right now but it was totally worth it.

I did feel Ten changed a little in this book and until things got a little more interesting with the numbers game I must admit I was skipping those sentences but I suppose it’s just a part of ten and don’t worry I was hooked right back in when it became more relevant.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed book two, would definitely read it again and now I’ll be dying for book 3!

Review: Bonfires

Bonfires Bonfires by Amy Lane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bonfires by Amy Lane

Oh Man!

That COVER, Like seriously its beautiful. So beautiful I need it on my bookshelves!

I spent a better of two days trying to come up with a review. It was another hard one to explain how much I loved it.

Book Lovers, I don’t… I mean like how can I express the love I have for AMY F*king LANE! I can’t, I just can’t! I really can but it’ll be this long and I mean long diary entry on how much I love this women’s writing, the way she just makes you feel, every single story she creates is just epic. Yes, there have been some heart wrenching ones, some happy fluffy ones and then we have the ones that just make you melt, well those ones are my absolute fav. I feel like I have been waiting for MY next fav Amy book for a little whiles, and I mean it’s hard to top the love I have for Collin and Jeff, and right there is another story everyone needs to read. But y’all! See what happens when I get to typing about someone I have had the greatest pleasure on meeting, and who I just love. Even the books that are not Ang friendly, I still think man, that was pretty kick ass writing.

Okay, Okay enough! I am sorry for the rambling, here is my Review!

Originally I have given it like 4 stars, that’s cos like I am greedy and I wanted more. So with a couple days later pondering, I am giving it 5 stars; cos since I’ve read it, I can’t not stop thinking about it.

Bonfires, is about two men who are in their late 40’s.
We have Deputy Aaron George, he lost his wife almost 10 years ago and dedicated his life to his children, moved to the small town of Colton. Then we have Larx, who also lives and breathes for his own daughters, he had a rough marriage beforehand, but he also lives and breathes for his students, you see Larx is the principle at Colton high.

*sigh* A sheriff's deputy and a principle!

I love that Aaron and Larx, have been friends with each other over the years and it just takes sweaty shirtless Larx, for Aaron to step up to the plate.

But what I love the most is that this is about two men who are older then most and honestly the thought of a love life was over for them, But one morning the beautiful Aaron charmed the socks of Larx and their story begins.

With their own children grown up, you enjoy the interactions between all the kids, they just make it extra kind of special.

I loved watching the two men acting like teenagers falling in love, finding secret places to snog, to hug to just finally have the sex that both have been waiting for a long, long, long time for. Just the comradery they have is beautiful, the chemistry they have is lightning hot.

I love that they are both mature, not jumping into everything that moves beds, they know what they want. And that is each other.

The second thing I love about Bonfires, is that it is about family, the family that we choose to be our family, it’s about second chances.

I love when Amy writes like this, it has to be my most favourite kind of story, I love that she can capture our feelings, and make us so captivated with the story you don’t realize what is happening around you.

Finding happiness when you least expect it, is what happened with Aaron and Larx. With a mystery murder and bully at school it’s a book I found myself when I first started I wasn’t too sure I would like it, but as the story unfolds I was so in love with all the characters and I just devoured it.

I think Bonfires is a fantastic story, and on the angst scale for Amy this is a lighter one, it’s not a fluffy story but it’s also not I’m going to reach into your heart pull in out stomp on it and then maybe slowly stitch it back together, you know which ones they are. THIS is not like that.

Review: Hopeless Romantic

Hopeless Romantic

Hopeless Romantic by Francis Gideon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hopeless Romantic by Francis Gideon

4.5 Stars

"I know, I’m hopeless romantic."

Do you?

Book Lovers you know I love the books that make me all warm and fuzzy, the unicorns and rainbows stories but you know I also love no drama, no angst, that the story that are sugary sweet are my crack, my thing!

Well, even though this is kind of sugary sweet it really touches home to some sensitive subjects, and I love that this is a romantic love story with two people just finding the one.

When I first came across this title, the cover alone sold me. Seriously that cover is epic, I love it very much. Hopeless Romantic is coming of age story told by Nick’s POV. I haven’t read a book without dual POV in a while, this this took me a little while to stop wanting to read Katie’s POV.

Hopeless Romantic takes us on the journey through Nicks eyes, as he figures out his relationship with Katie, find out more about his own identity along with Katie’s teaches all of us that sometimes love can be found anywhere, that you don’t fall in love with what is between each other’s legs, that YOU will in love with one’s HEART!

I have seen a lot of reviews, that many reviewers didn’t enjoy this story, that the author didn’t do it correctly, I don’t care what they all think. I actually really enjoyed the way Francis told his story of Nick and Katie.

I personally think he told a beautiful love story, letting us watch two lovely souls be one!
What I enjoyed most was, watching them fall hopelessly in love with each other, they took a chance on something they both were not expecting and ran with it. I also loved all the punk rock references, and most of all the MOVIE references, I am a massive 80’s brat pack fan, all the John Hughes fan. So that alone was just the coolest.
It’s because of them movies I am the person I am today, I can relate to the music and the movies referenced in this book.
When they were getting to know each other the question’s they asked each other, I was totally asking myself.
Hopeless Romantic, isn’t filled with angst and drama but it does touch some very REAL topics.

“But there’s something you need to know and understand about all of this, though. Okay?”
“Okay,” he said, though he shifted under the weight of her gaze.
“There is no magical transformation at the end of this. If you continue to see me, this is not going to be like the trans stories you see on TV. We’re not going to be some wonderful heterosexual couple after I get the final surgery. Even if I do change my mind ten years down the line—there’s no rising above and becoming a phoenix.”

For what it is, I absolutely loved this story, and I am looking forward to check out more from this author.
